Phototherapy is a term used to refer to a variety of light-based therapies which exploit different technologies in order to address a broad range of skin concerns. At this point, we should make clear that phototherapy does not include laser treatments. In fact, it would be more accurate to call it “photorejuvenation”. Phototherapy uses two types of technology: Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) or Broad Band Light (BBL). BBL is the latest and more advanced treatment, used mainly for the rejuvenation of aged and sun-damaged skin in a non-invasive manner. BBL can be applied in any area of your body. Usually, though, the most frequently treated body parts are the face, neck, hands, chest and shoulders, as they are more exposed to the sun.
